Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 4, 2026
This policy explains what information HunterScan ("we", "us") collects when you use the site, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using HunterScan, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
- Account information — email address, username, and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text) when you register.
- Profile information — display name, bio, and avatar, if you choose to add them.
- Activity data — reading history and progress, bookmarks, ratings, and comments you post, so features like "Continue Reading" and your library work.
- Technical data — IP address (stored as a one-way hash for deduplicating views and rate-limiting abuse, not for tracking individuals), browser/device information, and approximate country derived from IP, for basic analytics and security.
- Cookies — a login session cookie (required to stay signed in), and preference cookies for things like theme and reading settings, stored in your browser's local storage rather than sent to us.
How we use this information
- To provide the core reading experience — accounts, bookmarks, reading progress, notifications.
- To keep the service secure — rate-limiting abuse, detecting spam, moderating reported content.
- To understand aggregate usage (which series are popular, traffic trends) — never to build an individual profile of you for advertising.
Third-party services we use
We rely on infrastructure providers to run the site: a database host, an object storage provider for images (chapter pages, covers, avatars), and a bot-protection service (Cloudflare Turnstile) on certain forms. These providers process data only as needed to deliver their service to us and don't use your data for their own purposes. If we add analytics tooling (e.g. Google Analytics) in the future, this policy will be updated to name it specifically.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time from Settings, or by emailing manga2481@proton.me. Some data (e.g. content you posted publicly, like comments) may remain visible if removing it would break the experience for other users, unless you specifically request it be taken down too.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our legal rights, or to prevent fraud or abuse.
Children's privacy
HunterScan is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email manga2481@proton.me.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
